This last weekend when Jeremiah and I went holiday shopping we met a wonderful couple at a winemaking shop where we go to buy supplies. The husband is really big into making wine and he had purchased an antique fruit press and had it fully restored. But, he realized that he had not been using it and so it just sat there in their dining room. He said rather than selling it he just wants it to go to a good home where it will get used and so he offered to give it to us for free. Yes, you heard me right I said free!
We are going to pick up this lovely fruit press on Saturday afternoon and we are so freaking excited! This will make juicing berries and fruit for wine so much easier. This last year I did it by hand and by the end of it I feel like I didn’t have cartilage left in my hands and wrists. It is such a beautiful piece of equipment and restored in such a lovely way and I am so excited to try it out. Besides this wonderful gift we made some wonderful friends as well and it is also our plan to join the local winemaking group. I also decided to make a shrine area for Dionysus a god of wine in harvest, so that he may watch over and protect our wine.
