I would like to give a shout out to all the people out there with sewing skills to let them know that right now you can be sewing to save lives. So many of us are off of work right now and may have plenty of free time and so this is a great and truly useful thing to be doing to help out others during this situation. Even if you don’t know how to sow this is a great time to learn and there’s plenty of videos and instructions online about how to do it.
Also if you’re looking for supplies to do this with many of them can be ordered online or picked up at your local craft stores. If you do a search on the Internet you can find many different instructions on how to make facemasks for vulnerable people and medical workers on the front lines. I was just reading a persons posting discussing the fact that all the materials in the face mask need to be able to be sanitized under high heat so it is encouraged to not use plastic or plastic incorporated components at all, so use fabric ties versus elastic which has plastic in it.
This video and posting may not be the best instructional video out there because there are quite a few videos and written instructions cropping up everywhere, so if there are better ones please share the link to them in the comment section of this post.
Also what I’m going to be looking for is information about where to send them, so they get to where they are most needed first. If anyone has information about this out there please share that in the comments section as well. Thank you.
