Plums, plums and more plums…

Over the weekend Jeremiah and I processed various foraged berries into juice and froze them in preparation for making jams and jelly. We also began processing some black plums that were gifted to us for which we received two cases. Last night we completed canning one case of plums that we decided to cut in half and remove the pit and can in syrup. Of course we had no idea that we would end up with 20 quarts of canned plum and I still have another entire case of plums to do. With that case it is my goal to use it for plum jelly and jam and to dry the extra pulp for use with making various tea blends. We have also decided to keep the plum pits to see if we can grow black plum trees. We also picked wild plums, but because our supply of them was smaller we decided to make them into plum wine.
