With canning season heading toward it’s close for us I was finally able this last Wednesday to work on organizing my small immediately accessible pantry (Yes, there is another larger one and I organize that as well.) At the beginning of canning season Jeremiah and I went through everything and unfortunately had to get rid of quite a bit of stuff. A lot of the food that I had either reached its expiration date or I didn’t trust it because it wasn’t stored properly at one point by my ex when he had it before I could reclaim it during the divorce. It was hard for me to throw away the food not because I’m some kind of food hoarder, but because of the memories that I have with making in my old home. Yet, when it’s all said and done I found myself at peace with letting go of my past in this regard. Besides I like the idea of creating and having new memories of growing the garden and making and canning new wonderful food with Jeremiah in my new home, which is far more filled with love than the old one.
